Vermont’s two U.S. senators are joining a call for workers for companies that get federal government contracts to be paid at least $10.10 per hour.
Senators Bernie Sanders and Patrick Leahy were among 15 senators who signed a letter this past week to President Barack Obama making the request.
Sanders also joined some of the affected workers at a rally outside the U.S. Capitol building.
The senators urged Obama to issue an executive order that would be tantamount to setting a minimum wage for federal contractors.
